Monday night LevelTen kicked off our Introduction to Drupal Workshop here in our training room! It was a great success and we are already looking forward to the next session! For those of you who are unaware of this course please see the description below! We would love to have you join us, but rememebr to grab your spots fast as they are flying out the door. Priority also goes to those who attended round one!

As a side note, for those of you who were registered for Session 1 or were on the waiting list, you have another opportunity to join us at the next regular Dallas Drupal Meetup on Monday, May 16th. This will not affect the regular meetup in any way. However, for those of you who missed or were on a waiting list you are welcome to join us in a separate room where session 1 will be taught again so you are up to speed for session 2 in June.

Intro to Drupal Workshop

The course is a mix of lecture and hands on workshop, so bring your laptop. We will be setting you up with an actual website that you will be building during the course.

Series schedule

Session 1 – Intro to Drupal – 5/2/11

In this session we cover fundamental Drupal concepts. We will take a look at several high profile Drupal sites and dissect how you can incorporate their advanced features in your site. We will get your site up and running, learn how to use modules to add features and look at the basics adding content.

Session 2 – Content management tour 6/6/11

While Drupal does much more than just manage content, it all starts with content. In this session we will dive into Drupal’s revolutionary tools for architecting and managing content. We will also review Drupal’s highly flexible user based permissions system and how to mange user.

Session 3 – Theming and page layout tour – 7/5/11

In this session we will look at how to get your site looking the way you want. Drupal give non HTML/CSS coders a lot of tools for controlling page organization and the look and feel of your site. We cover menus, blocks and regions, and how to find and use plug and play themes to dress your site to impress.

Session 4 – Advanced features – 8/1/11

Drupal’s remarkable flexibility and corresponding rise in popularity is due to some pretty cleaver pioneering features. In this session we will look at those. In this session we will cover cutting edge concepts including building content types, CCK, views and advanced image handling.
